Bio
Galleons Lap are an ideal example of the inspired music that Brisbane has been generating in recent years. A four-piece original outfit, Galleons Lap blend innovative songwriting with classic, measured musicianship, and the result is a blend of roots and folk which you are unlikely to forget.

Galleons Lap was formed in 2001 by Luke Foran and Adam Campbell as an acoustic-based outlet for their respective stockpiles of original, folkish tunes. They performed as a duo for a year before begging keyboardist Andy White to augment the act with his haunting compositions and unbelievable virtuosity. Andy joined, and a 3-piece Galleons Lap gigged Brisbane and the North Coast extensively for the next four years, supporting wonderful artists such as Loren, Birtie Blackman, Palladium, Paul Greene, The Boat People, Georgious, Emma Deane, Dappled Cities Fly, Asa Broomhall, The Devoted Few, Halfday, and many more. Numerous live and studio takes were recorded during these years, none of which were released by the band.

In 2007, the band finally released their self-titled, debut EP. The EP took the band almost a year to record. The five-tracker beautifully reflects the style of the current line-up, depicting a Galleons Lap rooted firmly in the past, yet pointing toward the future with absolute conviction. Keeping with their tradition of change, the band launched the EP in September, 2007, with new percussionist Rebecca Flatt, who continues to play with the band into 2008, and unfailingly blows the minds of anyone privaleged enough to see her play.

In March, 2008, Galleons Lap supported Loren and the Grow Your Owns on the Southern Leg of his Grey Nomads tour, playing dates from Adelaide to Melbourne, and covering regional areas such as Warnambool, Bendigo and Geelong. April, 2008, sees the band support Loren in Coolum, Currumbin and Brisbane for the final leg of his national tour. Pre-production for their first LP is now underway, which will be available in 2009.

Lovers are urged to check out the newest confessions of these great players.

“Galleons Lap burn with raw talent. The three young singer-songwriters take their audience back to the roots of blues, folk and mellow rock.” (Joel Dullroy, Courier Mail).
